—Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Christ Church began as a church plant in 1973 when a group of Christ-followers started gathering in a mobile home to worship, pray, and study the Scriptures together, embarking on a decades-long journey of growth as the body of Christ.
In 2008, the leadership of the Christ Church met together with the purpose of discerning where God was leading the church. After praying and studying the Word extensively, the team concluded that Christ Church exists to:
- Glorify God
- Treasure Jesus Christ
- Love others
- Make disciples of all peoples
The team then began to seek how the church might be able to live out this mission. Again, with careful study and prayer, the leadership determined a threefold vision for the church:
- Equip 150 discipleship group leaders in patterns of disciple-making
- Serve the East Lake community in our city for a minimum of 25 years
- Plant 350 churches around the world in 10 years
With this new direction of mission and vision, Christ Church committed to be a part of the family of God on mission to make disciples and bless the earth for His glory.
Things we enjoy doing together as a church family include:
- Worship
- Acts 2:42 Gatherings
- Outreach Groups
- Small Groups
- Prayer Gatherings
- Studying the Scriptures
- Sharing a meal
- Good conversation
- Serving in our inner city
- Going to the nations to make disciples
Whether you have no background in understanding the Bible or have been a well-seasoned missionary, we would love for you to be a part our church family on mission to bless our city and the nations.
