  SMALL GROUPS | 2020

First Week Begins January 21

As we seek to follow Jesus and to walk in His ways, belonging to a group helps us build community with like-minded believers and grow as His disciples.  Consider being part of one of the following Small Groups:

SUNDAY

9:30 AM | THE VINE & THE BRANCHES – Discovery Bible Study

Led by Tim & Betsy Covington and Robert & Wendy Brandon (Mixed)

Through the I Am Second format, you will discover God’s Word, how you can apply it to your life and begin sharing it with others.  Each meeting is spent encouraging one another, discussing a specific passage of Scripture and committing to live out the lessons.

MONDAY

9:00 AM | THE EPIC OF EDEN: ISAIAH by Sandra Richter

Led by Jimmie Brindley (Mixed)

The book of the prophet Isaiah has more to say about Israel’s coming Messiah than any other Old Testament book. But too often, we miss the larger context. This study will take you back to the eighth century BCE. It explains Israel’s religion and economy, explores the definition and role of the prophets, and helps us to apply the message of this great champion of the faith to our lives today.

6:30 PM | WILDFIRE: A STUDY ON THE HOLY SPIRIT by Rica McRoy

Led by Holly Erwin (Women) – Meeting at Holly’s house (4939 Mtn. View Pkwy., Bham 35244)

A life in Christ is impossible without the Holy Spirit. Perhaps you know this to be true because you have tried following Christ in your own strength and the flame of your faith has been doused by discouragement. Maybe you want to experience a Spirit-filled life but don’t know how to begin. Whether the Holy Spirit is a complete mystery to you or a familiar friend, there is always more of him to know. This study is a practical action guide to stoking the fire of deep intimacy with the Holy Spirit in our everyday lives.

6:00 PM | THE REASON FOR GOD by Tim Keller

Led by Clay Grisetti (Men)

How could a loving God send people to hell? Why does he allow suffering? Can one religion be “right” and the others “wrong”? Responding to the questions of open skeptics and ardent believers, Keller draws from literature, philosophy, reason, and real-life conversations to explain how faith in a Christian God is a soundly rational belief.

What do we do when God interrupts our lives? Many times, like Jonah, we run! In this study, Priscilla redefines interruption and shows that interruption is actually God’s invitation to do something beyond our wildest dreams. When Jonah was willing to allow God to interrupt his life, the result was revival in an entire city.

6:00 PM | SET APART:  HOLY HABITS OF PROPHETS AND KINGS by Jessica LaGrone

6:00 PM | THE ARMOR OF GOD by Priscilla Shirer

Every day an invisible war rages around you — unseen, unheard, yet felt throughout every aspect of your life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you: your heart, your mind, your marriage, your children, your relationships, your resilience, your dreams, your destiny. In this study learn how to be dressed for the occasion with the full armor of God and how to develop a personalized study to secure victory.

6:00 PM | Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream by David Platt

Led by Maggie Grisetti (Women)

David Platt began to see a discrepancy between the reality of his Church and the way Jesus said His followers lived. In this book, he examines how American Christianity has manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences and challenges readers to rediscover the path.

THURSDAY

10:00 AM | THE PATRIARCHS by Beth Moore

Discover God’s pursuit of a relationship with man, and marvel as His plan to bless all people unfolds. This study is full of twists and turns, ruin and redemption, revelation and mystery.  You will explore concepts such as blessing, covenant, and promise, and the bearing each has on your life as a believer today.

6:00 PM| REVELATION: THE HOPE OF GLORY by David Platt

Led by Rick Graham (Mixed)

While many Christians ignore the book of Revelation because it seems so strange, others spend all their time arguing about its various interpretations. Both of these approaches are unfortunate, for in the last book of the Bible God gives to His people a stunning picture of the glory of Christ and of God’s sovereign rule over history. Revelation warns of eternal judgment for those who side with Satan and pursue the system of the world. The church, on the other hand, is called to persevere in the midst of persecution so that we might obtain our reward in a new heaven and a new earth where we will enjoy God forever.

MONTHLY | 6:30 – 8:00 PM
