The Christ Church Birmingham Spiritual Renewal Conference Report:  Day 1

Christ Church is pleased to host author and speaker, Mark Nysewander, for a four-day Spiritual Renewal Conference November 5th – 8th.  We will gather for day two of the conference tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Christ Church Birmingham Worship Center.

Mark taught yesterday on the need for Spiritual Renewal in our country.  He shared that if a spiritual renewal were to take place, it will not come from the culture but from the church.  If the church is to experience spiritual renewal, it will be because we as individuals within the church choose to pursue God for a fresh work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  Mark shared out of 2 Timothy 1:6 where the Apostle Paul said to Timothy, “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in your through the laying on of my hands.”  From this text, Mark shared how the flame and fire of the Holy Spirit purges, gives light and revelation, and empowers and renews our Christian experience.

Throughout the day, after receiving The Lord’s Supper, hundreds were in the altar praying for God to “fill them with the fire of the Holy Spirit.”

Here are some highlights from Day 1:

  • Someone in the congregation at the 9:30 service yesterday sensed that we needed to have a called prayer meeting for Spiritual Awakening in the church.  So, at both the 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. gatherings, a call went out to gather on campus and pray at 5:00 p.m.  A prayer meeting for renewal and awakening took place last night for the people of Christ Church, and for our church-wide gatherings which will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week at 6:30 p.m.
  • In the services yesterday, many people opened up and went to prayer teams and pastors to receive the ministry of prayer.  There were prayers for fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit, responses to the gospel of Christ, healing of cancers, migraine headaches, and for earthly circumstances that need God’s supernatural intervention.
  • Many people spoke of an unusual sense of the Presence of the Lord that seemed to increase throughout the day.
  • There were many prophetic words shared in last night’s prayer gathering, most of which are centered in God taking the people of Christ Church into a new day for His glory.

Can God move among a people called Methodists?  He already is . . .

We will gather again tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Christ Church Birmingham Worship Center.  Come expectantly.  Come prayerfully.  Come with an open heart to God.  Look forward to seeing you.

Child care is available through 2nd grade.
